13.02.2012 – Ruia College French Department celebrated « La Journée de la Francophonie »

The French Department of Ruia College, Mumbai, in partnership with « La Caravane des dix mots » and Suvibadra Institute of Art and Culture, celebrated “La Journée de la Francophonie” (International Francophonie Day) on its premises. Various French cultural programmes were organised like songs, dances, miming and puppet shows, theatre, poetry recital, etc. In addition “Dis-moi dix mots qui te racontent...” (Tell me 10 words that mean to you..) was held. The jury comprised of Ms. Dominique Frin, French Cooperation Attaché, Consulate General of France in Bombay, Ms. Astrid Bariot, Professor, Ecole Française Internationale de Bombay, the delegation representing the “Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie, among others.

International Francophonie Day is a global celebration of the International Organisation of the Francophonie (IOF). It takes place on 20th March each year. It was started in 1998 as a platform for 70 states and governments affiliated to the IOF to celebrate the common premise – French language – as well as their diversity.
