24th New Delhi World Book Fair

With more than 2000 participants, the New Delhi World Book Fair brings together the main Indian publishers in English and regional languages.

New Delhi, 9-17 January 2016

Held in the lawns of Pragati Maidan, the World Book Fair, in which the BIEF has participated since 2011, has become a key event for the Indian publishing scene, with the participation of a great number of publishers and authors from across the globe. This is also an excellent opportunity to meet many Indian professionals from different states, and to discover a great number of new books (which are on sale – often at a great discount). This year, the Guest of Honour is China.

The French Pavilion (Hall 7D), established in collaboration with Oxford Bookstore, houses the French bookstore where more than 1200 newly-released books as well as a great number of titles in translation are up for sale.

Many interesting activities for the members of the publishing industry as well as the general public are being organized at the French Pavilion:

  • Roundtable conference on French publishing industry: “Non-fiction and Graphic Novel: New Trends in France” (11 January, 11.30 am to 1.30 pm, Events Corner),
  • Joint conference by the French and the German Book Offices: “Globalocal Talk” (13 January, 2.30 - 4.30 pm)
  • Presentation on Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan in Paris, based on the book Nusrat : The Voice of Faith by Pierre-Alain Baud, in partnership with Harper Collins India, in the presence of the author, the translator and musican Dhruv Sangari (16 January, 12 noon to 1.00 pm, Events Corner)
  • Book release: The Grace of Brigands by Véronique Ovaldé, in partnership with Full Circle, in the presence of the author, journalist-novelist Amrita Tripathi and novelist Mridula Koshy (16 January, 4.00 - 5.00 pm).
