Safran, leading international high-technology group from France specializing in aerospace, defence and security, entered into agreements on 29 October 2014 with two of India’s most prominent institutions: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi in the aerospace sector, and Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, in the avionics sector.
Safran announced these agreements over a press conference that took place at the Residence of France, in the presence of H.E. Mr François Richier, Ambassador of France to India.
The group was represented by Messrs Alain Coutrot, Deputy Director (France), and Stéphane Lauret, CEO, Safran India Private Ltd. There were also representatives from IIT Delhi, IISc Bangalore and Morphing Machines.
Under their agreement, Safran and IIT Delhi will work towards the development of advanced pattern recognition algorithms to apply to complex data sets, as in in aerospace-related applications. With IISc Bangalore, Safran will work on developing an advanced computing platform for use in next generation avionics applications. This will involve customized multi-core reconfigurable network-on-chip systems with safety and security as key features, which are a must for reliable use in avionics.
