Bisco Bio-Sciences opens new research centre

Bisco Bio-Sciences Private Limited is the Indian subsidiary of Limagrain group for field seeds operations. Limagrain is an international farmers’ cooperative headquartered at Auvergne, France, and is the 4th largest seed company in the world.

In order to enhance innovation, Bisco Bio-Sciences Private Limited has invested in a new research center at Yadaram Village near Hyderabad, Telangana. The new research farm, spread across 46 acres, is dedicated to breeding activities with the latest technology namely HD greenjouse, drip irrigation and cold storage. It will also provide Bisco Bio-Sciences a strong capability to develop new hybrids adaptable to Indian conditions in their strategic crops - corn, hybrid paddy, bajra and sunflower.

Mr François Gautier, Consul General of France, was present during the inaugural ceremony of the plant.

The Yadaram research center is a part of the network of 9 research farms of Bisco Bio-Sciences located in India. At Industrial Knowledge Park a well-sructured greenhouse facility already exists and is assigned for GMO activities.

Today, Bisco Biosciences is investing more than 12% of its total turnover in research. More than 60 employees are engaged in various breeding and research operations.

The ambition of the Limagrain group, through Bisco Bio-Sciences in India, is to offer the best elite hybrids which suit different India agro climatic zones, to increase overall profitability of Indian farmers through sustainable agriculture.
