Inauguration of the Institute of Electricity and Energy Management (IEEM)

The Institute of Electricity and Energy Management (IEEM), set up by the State government in collaboration with France, was inaugurated in Bangalore on Saturday,28th June 2014.

The setting up of IEEM is part of a tripartite memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the State‘s Employment and Training Department, the Education Ministry of France and Schneider Electric Foundation, a France-based Fortune 300 company that specialises in electricity distribution and management.

Master trainers would be deployed to train the staff of various educational institutions. While the Employment and Training Department will provide the infrastructure such as building, electricity, computer and Internet facilities, the Education Ministry of France has already deputed a technical expert for imparting training. IEEM will conduct training programmes in initial and continuing education

Schneider Electric Foundation has donated the latest tools and equipment to IEEM and will also develop and implement training programmes in electrical maintenance, electrical technology and automated electrical systems to name a few.

An expert from France, Mr. Eric Dupont, has been appointed as the Director of the institute and a training officer appointed by the Employment and Training Department will serve as Co-Director.

The IEEM has been set up with INR 2-crore assistance from the French government. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah inaugurated it.
