Mission of the Consul General to Jharkhand
The Consul General Damien Syed visited the State of Jharkhand from 25 to 28th October 2016. He was accompanied by Mr Amitava Das, the representative of Campus France in Kolkata and Mrs Anjita Roychaudhury, the Press Attaché for the French Consulate in Kolkata.
Mr. Syed met her Excellency the Governor of Jharkhand Mrs Murmu at Raj Bhawan in Ranchi. He paid then a courtesy call on the Honourable Chief Minister of Jharkhand Shri Raghubar Das at his office and discussed ways to promote investment, education and culture between France and Jharkhand.
The Director General of Police in Jharkhand, Mr D K Pandey, met Mr. Syed at his headquarters along with his team and gave an update on the current situation in the state.
Mr. Syed met with the Chief Secretary of Jharkhand Mrs Raj Bala Verma to discuss the upcoming Jharkhand Global Investors Summit in February 2017.
He paid a visit to the Xavier Institute of Social Services (XISS) and interacted with the Director, the students and faculty members.
The Consul general visited the NGO ‘’YUWA’’ a school in Ranchi that empowers local and tribal girls by training them to play football.
Mr. Syed exchanged with the directors, professors and students of the highly ranked XLRI Xavier School of Management in Jamshedpur and the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Ranchi, which have both exchange programs with French schools.
In Jamshedpur, the Consul general had also a meeting with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) about the business relations between France and India. He concluded his visit with a press conference.
