Prof. Prabhgaunkar honoured with the insignia of the ’Chevalier dans l’Ordre National du Mérite’

On Friday, November 20, the Alliance Française, Panjim held a reception in the honour of Mr. Gajanana Prabhu Gaunkar, Ph.D from the University of Paris-Sud Orsay in France and Honorary Professor at the IIT Bombay, who was awarded the insignia of the Knight of the National Order of Merit (Chevalier dans l’Ordre National du Mérite).

Professor Prabhu Gaunkar, from Panjim, contributed throughout his career to scientific cooperation between France and India, helping to forge academic partnerships, sharing his network and his domain knowledge to serve French interests.

The Consul General of France in Bombay, Jean-Raphaël Peytregnet, after a short recount of the Professor’s career path and his close links to France, presented him with the insignia of the Knight of the National Order of Merit (Chevalier dans l’Ordre National du Mérite).

The ceremony was attended by Mr Laxmikant Parsekar, Chief Minister of the State of Goa since 8 November.

A sitar and tabla concert, played by Mansoor Khan group and a cocktail dinner ended the evening.
