Sanofi-Shantha Biotechnics’ two production units in Telangana

Shantha Biotechnics Private Limited is the first Indian company to develop, manufacture and market recombinant human healthcare products in India. Shantha is a wholly owned subsidiary of Sanofi group. Based in Hyderabad, Telangana, Shantha has two manufacturing sites at Medchal (18 acres) and Muppireddipalli (40 acres) respectively.

The state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities have high quality capacity to provide important vaccines at affordable prices to many people in India and around the world. Shantha’s portfolio of new vaccines in development, complement Sanofi Pasteur’s current vaccines. The Company’s four licensed vaccines are WHO-prequalified: Shan5 pediatric vaccine, Shanchol cholera vaccine, Shanvac-B hepatitis B vaccine, and ShanTT tetanus vaccine. Shantha supplies its products to over 100 low or middle income countries.

Mr François Gautier, Consul General of France, had the occasion to visit both these production units with a guided tour organised by Mr Charles Lutsch, Head R&D of the company.
