Seminar on India’s role in and beyond COP21

New Delhi, 19 April 2016

Following up on the adoption, at the 21st Conference of the Parties (COP21) in December 2015, of the Paris Agreement, which will be open for signing on Friday 22 April 2016 , the Embassy of France in India and The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) held a seminar on Tuesday, 19 April 2016 at the Residence of France on the following theme: “After COP21: India’s role in and beyond the Paris Agreement”.

The session took up the following two issues:

  • Operationalizing climate justice: from a confrontational to an aspirational goal;
  • From boosting renewables to promoting sustainable lifestyles: India’s role in the post-Paris era.

The session was inaugurated by H.E. Mr François Richier, Ambassador of France to India. Dr Ajay Mathur, Director-General, TERI, and Shri J M Mauskar, Member, Prime Minister’s Council on Climate Chang,e delivered the introductory remarks, while Mr Nitin Desai, Member, Prime Minister’s Council on Climate Change delivered the closing speech.
