UNESCO – Addition of Le Corbusier’s architectural work to World Heritage list

Seven countries (Argentina, Belgium, France, Germany, India, Japan, and Switzerland) joined forces to nominate Le Corbusier’s architectural work, described as a cultural asset, to the World Heritage list.

27 May, 2016

The nomination relates to 17 buildings on three continents, including the Curutchet House in La Plata, Argentina; the National Museum of Western Art in Japan; Chandigarh in India, and the Cité Radieuse in Marseille.

Including Le Corbusier’s work on the UNESCO World Heritage list would underscore its exceptional value and benefit conservation efforts worldwide.

This candidacy will be examined by the World Heritage Committee at its 40th session, meeting in Istanbul on July 10-20.
